About Eryri Networks

Eryri means 'the abode of eagles' and is the Welsh name which refers to the mountains of North Wales. Sadly, the eagles left over 100 years ago, but we still have magnificent mountains that offer a great playground for enjoyment, and for learning in a wide range of settings.

Eryri Networks grew out of a company called Training for Emergencies, which began in 1989 and provided only first aid training. As we expanded into wilderness emergency care and mountain trekking, the company reformed as Remote Places before reverting to Eryri Networks in 1995. The name change reflected the diversity of services offered which included management training and development, mountain first aid, mountaineering skills, trek and expedition provision. Company Director is Robin Trangmar.

  • In 1999, we started to develop an increasing range of Internet work, including website and e-learning design, and database administration systems.
  • In 2001 we evaluated the business and decided that we needed to focus on mountaineering skills, internet systems, and training and development.
  • For 2008 we are again consolidating our business and now offer personal mountain skills development and trek leadership and management, and teacher education and development consultancy to colleges of further and higher education and government departments. These projects are supported through the internet, mainly Virtual Learning Environments such as Moodle.

Business Philosophy

We are keen to reduce our overheads as much as possible for environmental and effective business management. To this end we are operating as a 'paperless business'. All our marketing and communications are done through the medium of e-mail and the Internet. We run a small office and don't have staff on station at regular times - usually there is someone planning and clearing mail in the mornings and the evenings.

Quality

We care about what we do, and take a systems approach to the running of the business. Above all we listen to what you want and give you a range of options when preparing a training and development plan for you. However, if your budget will not enable us to provide an effective training solution, then we won't work with you. We don't cut corners with safety and the effectiveness of learning. If you want to know who we work with, then we can provide a list of corporate clients.

If you want cheap, then you don't want us. But we don't charge silly prices and make unachievable statements about what we can offer.
