Taith Eryri – The Tour of Eryri

Slow Progress …

CarneddauPonyThe weather, mainly the wind and rain, has continued to be challenging. Flooding in many of the lanes has halted progress and we’ve focused on the drier sections. However, once the rain stopped, it snowed! Just after the snow there was a brief burst of sunshine and we headed onto the Penmaenmawr section to map out the Haute Route, and to find the changes to the paths through the quarry. As well as sunshine, we found the Carneddau Ponies, stopped to think of the journey that Bachelor’s Baby made before crashing on January 7th 1944, and paused to think of those killed including their little dog Booster. Details of the crew and crash can be found here. As we turned away, we spotted a Red Kite cruising over Waen Llanfair. Despite a cold wind, we had a glorious day under blue skies and dropped down to the parking in Pen just as it was going dark.
